An electric panel is a metal box that contains circuit breakers for your home. It is usually located in your basement or garage. The electric board is responsible for sending power to different areas of your home. As circuits get overloaded, they can overload and trip breakers in your electric panel. 

The best place to start with fixing tripping circuits is at the source. A circuit breaker works by using a spring-loaded plastic strip inside the box. The metal tab travels between two electrical contacts when it is time to cut off power to an area of your home for repairs or safety reasons. When you are ready to restart power again, push the tab back into its proper position to level with the other line on top of it. This will keep the electricity flowing correctly throughout your home without any danger of shortages, damage, or fire hazards. If you need to reset a circuit and it won't reset, you might have too much electricity flowing through the breaker. Unwire appliances in that area one by one until the breaker can be turned on again. 

Once you know which appliance is causing excess power to flow through any circuits, remove them from their plugs and measure how much electricity they use when plugged directly into an outlet. If it's more than 15 amps, then more than one outlet will have to be used for that appliance before another overloads its circuit. For example, if you have a heater plugged in with an electric blanket, only use two outlets instead of three, so there is room for another large appliance like a refrigerator.
